My name is Jamie Weinreb. I had been a private school teacher at The Westside Waldorf School for
nine years. I have taught for a total of fifteen years and am currently working with a family of
four boys. After reviewing the Angel Game and actually playing it with the boys, I was quite
impressed by the non-competitive theme and the positive message that was displayed while
engaging in the game. During play, the children are encouraged to express their feelings
about what they are grateful for and how they are contributing to their families. Unlike
most goal-oriented, self-serving, aggressive games that are on the market today, this one
was an inspiration to me for the future of tomorrow.

Dear Joan Marie,
This task has been long enough on my mind and list of things to do... So here is my contribution, with apologies for the long delay.
I was pleased to see Star Power advertised - a game that was not competitive and intended to develop positive interactions rather than competitive ones.
I was delighted to find that the advertisements were in no way exaggerated. The children with whom I have played the game have been uniformly enjoying its
invitations to take turns in sharing their views and opinions, aspects of their lives, and answering other questions - such as, "What is your favorite thing
to do?" or "What are ou doing today to be the best person you can be?" I was surprised at the pleasure elicited by the invitation to draw an angel or happy face on participants' hands and other positive verbalizations.
The other innovation that everyone found enjoyable came when players finished the game. The object was not to be first, but to have everyone finish - so those who already finished are invited to give encouragement to the others who are still working their ways to the finish line.
The fact that the game is designed with winsome figures and tokens are in the shape of stars adds to the pleasure of participation. Earning lots of stars is again surprisingly reinforcing.
I agree with the designers' suggestions that this game is suitable for children of 4 to 9, but would suggest including mention that reading skills in at least one player are necessary. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that children within a wide range of ages could play this together with obvious enjoyment of all.
Star Power is warmly recommended as a classroom tool for developing cooperation and insights, as well as for casual home use.
